Snapshots of Life
…and the HOBBIES I fill it with.
This is just a fun page. In case you haven’t noticed, each page of this website has become a “part” of my biography. By design, this site is for you to get to know me. You’ll notice a theme of pictures on each page. Each theme highlights something of interest in my life. Generally, these are my Hobbies, the things I enjoy doing outside of Pitts Insurance Place.
During the site construction phase, I asked many friends, and even some clients, to give me feedback. This was an excellent idea and I learned a lot from their honest evaluations. The interesting thing was most of them had questions about certain pics. When was it taken, where, and what I was doing in the shot.
The suggestions indicated I should give some information about the pics. So below I gave a brief description of each photo theme, as they appear on each page. Eventually I will break down some of the more interesting pics and give more detail about them.
In the meantime, feel free to use the email button at the bottom of this page to send me a comment or question about a particular pic. I hope you’ve enjoyed them as much as I did while building these pages. Thankx for looking…………Jim

THEME: My 1948 CJ2A Jeep
This was my dad’s Jeep that he bought in 1962. We spent about 10 years together doing the primary rebuild. After dad passed away in 2012 I decided to finish it and began the body and paint portion of the build. Now my wife and I take it out for ice cream on summer nights or to Moab, UT for some tough trail rides. Either way, the old Jeep just keeps on going, and dad is always riding with us.

THEME: Shop Life
As I explained in my biography on this page, my first career was a tractor mechanic and I guess the bug just never left me. Over the years I’ve continued to enjoy time in the shop where I can engineer stuff, create something out of nothing, weld and use machinery. Balance in life can keep a driven professional from burning out. The shop is a great release and helps to keep me sane.

THEME: Hiking
Sometimes a climb in the mountains is the perfect way to relax. I’ve always enjoyed hiking and during the time I lived in Colorado I took full advantage of it. Arizona has its share of nice places to climb around in also. Staying physically fit goes together with my mental fitness. Hopefully it’ll keep me working for a few more years.

THEME: Our Harley’s
I’ve ridden since I was 11 years old. Started on a dirt bike and worked my way up to the big bikes. My wife and I have collected a few OLD Harley’s. I work on them when I can, and we take them to bike shows around AZ. My wife rides also and this has become one of those fun things we can do together. She holds her own as we ride all over the U.S.

THEME: Outdoor Sports
I’m either in the truck, in my office or in your home, far too much. In keeping with the other themes, I just really like to be outside when I’m not working. Zip lines, Repelling, Golf, Snorkeling, Fishing, Horseback Riding, you name it, I’m all in. Thankfully, my wife is even more athletic than I am so she keeps me going.

THEME: Billiards
Always loved playing pool. We had a pool table at the farmhouse, and I played with my older brother. Never got very good at it but always loved the challenge. Started playing pool in Bisbee, joined a team and ended up the Director of the Bisbee Pool League for over 15 years. Even got to play in the AZ State Tournament a couple of years. Still a passion of mine.

THEME: The “Fire Pit” Area
One of those landscaping projects that just kept on going. I really like working with different textures. We wanted a nice fire pit with a back bar or serving area. I put in the 120v electrical, 12v, water system & drainage. I did all the flagstone and block work. The custom cut brick work was the most difficult. It’s still not completely done, but I keep trying.
Don’t let anyone steal your dreams!

THEME: My wife Mona & I
For the most part I haven’t included my family in any of this website. With the internet, scammers, identity theft, and so forth the way it is, I just felt safer not putting them out there. But I really wanted to include my wife. We do everything together and she has been instrumental in helping me build this site. So it’s only fitting that she be featured in one of my themes. A special Thankx to my partner in Life, I love you Mona………Me

THEME: The Palm Trees
Our Palm trees are more needy than a pet. Up to now, I’m still doing all my own trimming. Generally this means I’m up there two times per year. Then there’s the Palm Planters. Somewhere along the line we decided build some custom planters around the base. Complete, of course, with 110 and 12v electricity, and an above and below drip system.

THEME: The Grain Bin Projects
I get a lot of ideas driving around these states. The latest is a couple of grain bins my wife and I tore down in KS and brought back to AZ. I’m in the process of reassembling them to make a barbeque area with one and an entertainment area with the other. This is a fun project that we can’t wait to finish this summer.

THEME: Landscaping Projects
The standing joke is that I’m on a 20-year landscaping plan. One project just leads to the next. I do all my own ground water and drip lines, drainage, electrical work, and stone work. This summer I’ll be doing some brick walkways and maybe even a windmill project. I figure it’ll be nice if I ever get done building it.

THEME: Quads & 4-Wheeling
The Quads give us the ability to run around in back country places that you just can’t get to any other way. Unlike the Jeep, these things are pretty small and it’s easy to run around in places with no roads. The theme pics for this page were all taken in AZ. And no, in the pic to the right of this, I’m not sleeping. I am changing a camera battery. Ha, Ha

THEME: Our Pets
Our two Standard Poodles, Whiskey and Bailey. First they spent time with my mom and dad and later they lived with us. At 110 pounds each, these two brothers ruled the house. Sadly, they’re both gone now. They lived long lives and Whiskey was the last to go. I’m sure there will be more friends like these in our future, just not right now. It’s amazing how friends that love you so much, can hurt you so bad when they’re gone.
